My Medicine Cabinet

My Medicine Cabinet

Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” and the “Hippocratic Oath” is still taken today by doctors, but, we have come a long way from prescribing food as medicine. Jay Kordich’s “the Juiceman’s Power of Juicing” is the book on which I swear. There is a hysterical skit of Jim Carrey during his days on Living Color about Jay. When my husband was diagnosed with elevated cholesterol, instead of medication, I juiced Jay’s Cholesterol-Lowering Cocktail of carrots, apple, ginger & parsley. Our daily ritual is kale, apple, lemon & cayenne. I purchase kale at the local farmers market, wash it all at once and store in a custom bag made by my mom to store veggies in the refrigerator. They are easy to make with tea towel cotton, a simple seam and ribbon to close. She is very creative and printed photos of me and family with iron on paper. This makes it simple during the week to have all of your fruits and vegetables washed and ready to swallow a juice instead of that pill. Take an oath to take your health back into your own hands!
